Design Distinction 1

Quite often, a formal sanctuary ends up with excessive acoustical reverberation. We have learned how to provide an acoustically "live" space, without promoting excessive, reverberation which can severely diminish the intelligibility of speech and music.

Design Distinction 1: Acoustical Performance

The Worship Center ceiling had to be designed to support a formal architecture.  The challenge in providing this type of design can be an excessive amount of hard, flat, sound reflective surfaces on the upper walls and the ceiling.  We modeled the space with several different ceiling designs that met the architectural design goals and had various levels of success meeting the acoustical performance goals that we established.  We settled on a "coffered ceiling" type of design with a non-symmetrical application of stepped coffers throughout the ceiling. The results have provided a warm, ambient acoustical support of music, congregational singing & worship, without degrading speech intelligibility. The church leadership is very pleased with the results of Omega's designs.

“I tell many of my church clients that when Omega Consultants is on the job, I sleep better at night, knowing the critical audio and video part of the project will be handled well!”
