Design Distinction 3: Video Projection System
Mike Work was brought on staff at Mission CC serving as the Executive Pastor of Operations. Pastor Mike has an extensive background in Christian concerts & productions, and he provided invaluable insight into the entire A/V design plan that we produced. In particular, Mike wanted a very high visual impact utilizing a huge, center platform video screen, as large as the facility design would permit, and Omega could possibly provide. We went to work and researched what was possible, feasible & cost effective to get this done within a very tight budget. Our research led us to several church projects with extra large screens, one located in the Phoenix area. The church had a 36'W x 20'H rear projection screen with 4 large format video projectors providing the video image. The system was processed with a Vista Spyder multi-image processor. The video image quality was judged as being "fair" to "good", but not excellent. Very difficult to match color & brightness from 4 projectors on one screen. The other big negative was the $250,000.00+ system cost.
Our design ended up using a Da-Lite Rear Project Module with an optics grade glass mirror, and a single Digital Projection Lightning Pro 40-1080p model video projector providing 21,000 ANSI Lumen output. The Da-Lite rear projection screen dimension is 40'W x 22.5'H and is the largest single video screen within a church across the entire state of Arizona (At the time we installed it.......). With a very powerful & flexible video graphics & presentation system driving 5 total video projection systems, including an environmental scenic projection system wrapping around the worship center, the church leadership is very pleased to present such a worship environment to the community..........
“One very unique, but incredibly valuable, capability that is evident from Omega’s work has to do with employing high performance technology, but doing it in a way that church volunteers can access with a minimal learning curve.”
