Design Distinction 1: Control, Studio & Integrated Pro Tools Recording System
Omega researched several Pro Audio manufacturers to find a digital, FOH audio console that would integrate the console I/O with a digital recording system, but, without the expense and complication of having to utilize an offboard splitting system. Avid's Digidesign Venue Mix Rack System provided the best cost vs performance competition between the manufacturers we evaluated. Omega designed an integrated media suite consisting of a control room for video, non-linear editing with FCP, and a future studio. A custom Pro Tools recording control room was designed with sound isolated monitor glass providing eye contact into the studio/control room complex. The Pro Tools C-24 recording desk provides the control surface interfaced with a MacPro computer running Pro Tools HD 2 Accel software. The FOH I/O audio circuits are integrated to the Pro Tools rig via 2 digi-link cables. The system works great, sounds superb, and the church is pleased.
Design Distinction 2: Dual Net Personal Monitor System
We have designed this section to provide 2 separate PMS networks. One dedicated to Vocalists & the other dedicated to Musicians. The church had an existing Aviom, digital personal monitor system which we used in our new Dual Net design. The dual net capability provides 2 completely separate mixes. One mix is set up to optimize the vocal team members. This provides for each vocalist to adjust their own voice within the mix and provides for a more broad mix of the band. The band network system provides for each band musician to adjust their own instrument within the mix with a more broad mix of the vocalists. The result of this design is much more monitoring precision for both the band and the vocal team. The system can also be extended to provide the standard Aviom 16 channels of audio over 16 separate remote mixers thereby expanding the number of band / orchestra / vocalists who use the system. The church is very pleased with the performance and functionality of the new system.
