Design Distinction 1 & 2
Years of video "bandaids" on the old church system led Omega to design & integrate a full HD Video System that would project Abba's House & Ron Phillips Ministries (RPM), well into the future with programming through TBN, SkyAngel & similar syndicated video transmission networks....
Design Distinction 1: "Hybrid" HD Studio Camera System
The church directed Omega to design and integrate a full HD camera system that would be closely matched for image quality, system stability & reliability, and cost effectiveness. They definitely did not want a repeat of the frustration experienced with their previous system. Armed with great planning & direction from Angie McGregor, Executive Director of Communications, and her tech staff, we first set up an extensive research campaign between Sony, Panasonic, JVC & Ikegami for HD Cams. We specified the Sony package because of cost vs performance, whereby we could integrate a "hybrid" selection of HD cams to meet the budget, without sacrificing performance & image quality. We did that by specifying the primary, key cams that utilized 2/3" CCD - 3 chip models, and secondary HD cams that utilized 1/2" CCD - 3 chip units. The color gamuts of the two cam types, while not exact, were the closest for color matching all the cam shots, compared to the other manufacturers. The net results provided a system for the church that produced superb "must have this shot" HD quality images, sufficient multi-cam variety and shot angles, and a highly reliable day in and day out broadcast & production system operation. The church is very pleased with the system.
Design Distinction 2: Innovative Integration of Broadcast Studio, Control & Engineering
The video broadcast & video production system went through significant value engineering from beginning of planning through final installation. The HD/SDI interface was designed in a closed wiring system, to save cost, that included 90% of the day in and day out operational system configuration. A compact & very cost effective patching network was then designed to handle other, less utilized configurations. This saved significant expenses compared to integrating an extensive digital switching router into the system, and patching is very quick & easy. A 4 Gb fiber network backbone was designed and implemented with a multi-bay removable drive, raid-array storage system for non-linear editing & system file management. The system handles all live, production & editing demands very well with flexibility to upgrade function & capacities in the future as needed.
“Omega has demonstrated high standards of competency and professional ethics in every phase of our project, and we would be pleased to secure their services for any future projects.”
