Lighting is extremely important for ministry. Research studies have shown that the human eye will naturally tend to look upon the brightest object in a room. With that in mind, the minister, choir, or whatever the focal point of ministry is at any time of the service should be the brightest point of the sanctuary; otherwise, the eye will become fatigued trying to differentiate between the point of ministry and some other highlight in the sanctuary.
A well designed lighting system would include a three point and a multi-dimensional stage lighting performance. This would also include control system design for automated luminaires, or moving lights. The cost of these moving lights and automated accessories like color scrollers are decreasing with time, so a competent design should at least include the wiring and plug-in locations for an automated system. >>
