Hyde Park Baptist Church

For over a century, Hyde Park Baptist Church has been located at 39th and Speedway in Austin, Texas. It is here that the church has raised the banner of Jesus high to the community of Hyde Park, the church's namesake, Austin, TX, and then to the world. The church's roots grow deep here at 3901 Speedway, and God has blessed their faithfulness and stewardship through sustained growth.
The Dream and Vision
In 1980, Hyde Park Baptist Church stepped out in faith to build a 2,200-seat sanctuary. This was the fourth Sanctuary to be built at this location. In 2001, 107 years after the church was formed, Hyde Park needed a renovation to continue building upon the dream and vision God had given them. A larger sanctuary was not the key, but updating the sanctuary was. Mike Harland, Minister of Music at Hyde Park explains, "It wasn't so much a renovation because things were worn out, or needed to be replaced as much as it was a renovation of function."
